What steps did you have to do to get your body ready for stage?
When I decided I wanted to compete in a fitness competition I started researching a variety of trainers and programs. I found Jill Bunny and felt that her philosophy was aligned with mine. I started her training and nutrition program and then moved into competition prep. I hit the gym and weights on my own and then enlisted the help of a personal trainer that was highly recommended by Jill. I followed my nutrition plan, ate cleanly and took all my vitamins. Finally, to be stage ready I went to Jill's posing classes and practised my poses daily.

What was your goal for the competition? My goal was to develop lean muscle and have definition in my arms and a toned body. The competition was to showcase my results and all I hoped for was not to finish last. I was overwhelmed when I finished first and won overall at my very first competition!

How did you feel during your prep for stage?
I felt great and well prepared. I had regular weekly contact with Jill and as the competition neared we had daily contact. My body had transformed and the muscles came in and I felt ready.

What was your least favourite part of the prep?
My least favourite part was the removal of seasonings in my food and just using dry herbs such as oregano in the final two weeks of prep.

Did you have a moment of weakness? If so, when and why?
Yes! At 4 weeks out I had major cravings for chips, my favourite junk food. I hadn't eaten any chips for over 3 months and I broke down and had some rice chips twice that week.

What was the best thing about your journey to the stage? Two great things happened in my journey...first the unbelievable transformation of my body, I'm so happy with the results, my arms are defined, my glutes have grown, my body is more toned and I feel fantastic overall. The second thing was meeting so many wonderful people. I have made new friends both online and in person that you can count on to be positive, supportive and encouraging!

What was your favourite food?
Pancakes made with egg whites, half a banana and oats. I also love almond butter.

What was your least favourite food?
Cod

Tell us about your suit choice and the experience?
I got my suit from Colleen at The Crystal Suit. I brought in a few of my favourite bikinis that I had worn on vacations and Colleen showed me fabrics that were similar to the ones I had. I choose "Cinderella Blue" and this suit made me feel like a princess. Colleen did a beautiful job!

On the day, what did it feel like getting ready, stepping on stage?
I was surprisingly calm and had no nerves. I came with the attitude that I was doing this for me and I had accomplished my physical goals and felt very happy to be able to get on stage to present my results. After winning overall at regionals, I qualified for provincials. And when I competed at Provincials, I went in with the mind set that I've exceeded all my goals and anything at Provincials was icing.

Did you feel prepared and ready physically and mentally?
Yes! My body was in the best shape of my life and I was extremely happy with my journey.

Was it everything you expected? It was everything and more!!

How did it feel to be a part of Team Bunny and have Jill as your coach?
Being a part of Team Bunny is like being part of a family. It's great connecting with women that have similar goals and a drive to succeed at improving themselves to be the best and strongest version of themselves. Jill is very knowledgeable and she was there for me every step of the way in my journey. I learned a lot from her, she is a positive and inspiring leader!   frances back

When you were finished your competition, what did you do to celebrate? I went out for dinner with my husband Rob, my cousin Michelle and her husband Emo, they were my biggest supporters. I had a steak glazed with chimichurri butter and fries, and dessert was sticky toffee with vanilla ice cream, yummy!!!

What are your plans for the future...another competition? I qualified for Nationals and would like to compete at the 2017 National Championship. I may also compete again in the fall so that I stay focused and I have a goal to maintain my new physique.

16. Anything that you want to add about the whole experience?
My experience has taught me a lot about myself and my body. It has been extremely satisfying and rewarding. I started my journey for me and now my whole family and I are enjoying a healthier lifestyle❤️
