Post Competition Interview: Stella
- Name: STELLA URSINO
- Age: 46
- Competition:BIKINI (Grand Masters)
- Placing: 1st Place OPA GALA NOVEMBER 2015
- What steps did you have to do to your body ready for stage?Lots of time training, and sacrificing my desired meals. I was concerned that desired meals may interfere with lean muscle, so I avoided them altogether. . I also had to train myself to walk in heels!
- What was your goal for the competition?Just to have the courage to get up on a stage in front of people. I wanted to break out of my comfort zone. I wanted to take a risk, but controlled approach, to challenge myself to do something I normally wouldn't do. I think learning to live outside your comfort zone, doing something forcing you out of it, can prep you for life changes, and give you skills for adapting to sudden and new obstacles.
- How did you feel during your prep for stage?Great! ENERGIZED!!!! PUMPED!!!!
- What was your least favorite part of the prep? The large quantities of water just before I had to deplete...my career isn’t conducive to bathroom visits whenever you want to, or need to!
- Did you have a moment of weakness? If so, when and why?Yes...registering on-line. I was second guessing if I could really do this...so I delayed registering for the completion as long as I could.
- What was the best thing about your journey to the stage? How I felt! I never felt so physically and emotionally alive!
- What was your favorite food?
ALMOND BUTTER!!!!! I have a weakness for nut butters!
- What was your least Favorite food?Shrimp...so I asked Jill to sub it with something, anything else!
- Tell us about your suit choice & the experienceI selected blue as the color, as it’s my favorite color. Colleen at the Crystal Suit made me feel really comfortable – she was supportive and sweet. It was a positive experience.
- On the day, what did it feel like getting ready, and stepping on stage?Well...I showed up early on the day of the competition...acquired number 2...and since it was my first competition, I figured I’d just follow what the girls ahead of me did. Why did I assume this was a good plan! Since I was ‘competitor #2’ I was the first in my group to go on stage...needless to say, I was super nervous
- Did you feel prepared and ready physically & mentally?YES
- Was it everything you expected?MORE!
- How did it feel to be apart of Team Bunny & have Jill Bunny as your coach? It was wonderful! Jill emanates positive energy...so, on the days, and there were many, I faced self-doubt, she terminated those bad vibes.
- When you were finished your competition, what did you do to celebrate?I went home to my little girl...I was out of the house the entire day...she missed me tons! I took a celebratory shower...I wanted to wash off the spray tan.
- What are your plans for the future... another competition???I’d like to do one! Either SAF or Provincials in June
- Anything that you want to add about the whole experience??It was exhilarating!!!! I learned to appreciate that not everyone will understand why I needed to do this.
Thank you Jill!
Stands back from the keyboard in ammtnaeez! Thanks!
