Transformation Story with Allison Miller
At the start of my weight loss journey I was very overweight and decided it was time for a change. I had no energy so I spent a lot of time time watching tv or playing on the computer. I didn't have many friends, I was shy around people I didn't know so I kept to myself. I was unhappy and embarrassed about I how I looked so I wore baggy clothes and nothing remotely revealing or feminine.
I started going to the gym and was intimidated at first until I learned how to use the equipment. I learned what eating healthy was all about and how to improve my eating habits. I stopped going to fast food restaurants and chose healthier options where I could. After a while things got easier as they became routine.
I gained a lot of self-esteem over the years and improved my will power. I became comfortable with who I was and learned to socialize more. I am not self-conscious about how I look anymore and my choice of clothing has completely changed. I can now wear form-fitting clothing, dresses, heels and wear make up all while being comfortable where I don’t feel out of place.
I am a completely different person and proud of the new me and have come a long way. It has been a long and tough journey with ups and downs but it has made me a much stronger person because of it. I have lost some friends along the way but I have made a lot more new ones, I have met so many inspirational and supportive people throughout this process and I could not have done it with out every single one of them whether they are still with me today or not. They still taught me something about who I was and the type of person I wanted to be.
My first bikini competition was the biggest life changing moment that I have ever experienced. If you would have told me a year ago that I would be competing in a bikini competition I would have told you that you were crazy. It wasn't until June 2015 that I decided that I was going to compete and do something way out of my comfort zone. Since then I have worked hard to achieve that goal and it has turned into a dream come true. There have been ups and downs along the way including declining invitations to go out with friends. Following strategic meal plans and workout schedules, sometimes getting up very early to hit the gym twice in one day just to fit in that extra cardio session. I’m not saying any of this was easy, it took a lot of hard work and determination but it was all worth it in the end.
Would I do it all over again? Yes, in a heart beat! Already working towards the next one :) I have met so many inspiring women over the past year and it is amazing! I want to thank all of my family, friends and Team Bunny teammates for all their love and support throughout this journey. I have honestly shed tears of joy and gratitude since that first show in December because I was amazed that I had inspired so many other people, not just women, to realize their goals and seeing me achieve my goals had made them want to work towards them just as I had.
Amazing Transformation from the inside out. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Proud Coach and Friend.
